Liz has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University where she studied how cancer cells metastasize in the brain. Prior to this she earned a BA in Physics in 2009 from the University of Pennsylvania.

Liz has won numerous fellowships including the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute Med-into-Grad Fellowship, Sage and Provost Diversity Fellowship as well as federal funding from the NCI Physical Sciences in Oncology Network. Liz is also a member of many professional societies including the National Society of Black Physicists.

LizĀ is an advocate for science communication and science policy, representing Cornell at student congressional summits, funding panels and national societies.

A proud Mississippian, Liz is an alumni of the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, a public residential high school that was listed among the top 500 best high schools in the US in 2016.
